Affiliate Disclosure

Last updated: October 29, 2026

Energy Saving Desk is free to read and use. To pay for running the site, some pages contain affiliate links. This page explains what that means for you.

What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is a link to a retailer or brand that tells them you came from our site. If you click one and then buy something, the retailer may pay us a commission. You don’t pay anything extra. The price is the same as if you’d gone to the retailer directly.

How you can recognise them

  • Pages with affiliate links carry a short disclosure near the top or right next to the links.
  • Calculator results that include a shopping link show a disclosure line beside the button.
  • Affiliate links are marked in the page code with rel="sponsored", as search engines ask.

What commissions don’t change

  • What we recommend. We decide what to cover and how to rank products before we look at whether there’s an affiliate programme. A product without a programme can still be our first choice.
  • What our calculators show. Calculator results come from the formula and your inputs. A commission never changes a number.
  • Our tone. If something isn’t worth the money for most people, we say so, even when it would earn a commission.

We don’t accept payment for reviews, rankings or placements, and we don’t publish star ratings.

Programmes we work with

At the time of writing, Energy Saving Desk has not yet joined any affiliate programme, so the site does not contain paid links. When we join a programme or network, we’ll list it here.

The rules we follow

We follow the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s guidance on endorsements (16 CFR Part 255), the UK CAP Code and UK consumer protection law as enforced by the ASA and the CMA, and the disclosure requirements of EU consumer law. In short: we tell you clearly, before you click, when we may earn money from a link.
